about

In 2009, JWH gave us the wonderful Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead. Recorded in Portland OR, he was backed by the classic line-up of The Minus Five, featuring of course Scott McCaughey and Peter Buck, but also Kurt Bloch, Bill Rieflin, and long-time accompanist Robert Lloyd on keyboards. It remains Harding’s favourite of his many records.

Particular thanks to them, to Cathy Hendrix, and to Thaddeus Rudd and Julie Sparling.

“Who was Changed and Who was Dead” is a novel by Barbara Comyns, published in 1955, about a deadly outbreak of ergot poisoning in a small English village.
